“The most important thing to remember about depression is this: you do not get the time back. It is not tacked on at the end of your life to make up for the disaster years. Whatever time is eaten by a depression is gone forever. The minutes that are ticking by as you experience the illness are minutes you will not know again.”
-Andrew Solomon

These pieces are a part of a collection called Wellbutrin 300mg (2016). Each image is hand painted 35mm film using wellbutrin dissolved in ink cast with epoxy glue.

Using my antidepressants (300mg Wellbutrin) as a medium for art, I explore the intersection between mental illness and expression. Examining the temporal nature of depression and its relation to identity. The same way one captures memories or moments on 35mm film, I too capture the very nature of depression by recording how it reacts to my art as it fizzles up and changes the texture of the piece.
